Meghan Markle has expressed her feelings about Kamala Harris, suggesting the Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election will have the full support of her and Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex has always spoken up as an advocate for the rights of women and girls and back in 2020 encouraged her fans to go out and vote.

When she and Harry were working members of the Royal Family they had to keep their political views quiet, although on a panel with Gloria Steinem she discussed the significance of Kamala Harris being picked as Joe Biden’s running mate four years ago.

In August 2020 Ms Steinem said: “The heart of the Democratic Party has been Black women. And now there is a potential vice president who is Black, and that’s exciting.”

Meghan responded with this nine word statement: “I’m so excited to see that kind of representation.” She then added: “You know, for me, being biracial, growing up, whether it was a doll or a person in office, you need to see someone who looks like you in some capacity.

“As many of us believe, you can only be what you can see. And in the absence of that, how can you aspire to something greater than what you see in your own world?”

Before the 2020 election Meghan and Harry released a video with Time 100 calling on American citizens to go out and vote in an era-defining election for the country.

The Duchess stated in the video: “Today is National Voter Registration Day. Every four years, we are told the same thing, that this is the most important election of our lifetime. But this one is.”
