In February of that year, the Home Office decided that Prince Harry would no longer receive police protection in the UK after he retired from royal duties . In December 2023, Harry’s lawyers said the government’s decision had subjected him to unlawful and unfair treatment.

Mr Harry took the case to the High Court in London, which on February 28 concluded that the decision was not illegal.

Prince Harry last returned to Britain this month to visit his father when King Charles revealed he had been diagnosed with cancer.

The February 28 ruling is Harry’s second legal defeat over his security, having previously lost an appeal against the government’s refusal to allow him to pay for his own police protection.

Prince Harry has often spoken of his fears for his family’s safety and has criticised the press for its scrutiny of his private life, which he believes led to the death of his mother, Princess Diana, who was killed in a car crash while fleeing paparazzi in Paris in 1997.

In another development, the British government on February 28 announced an additional budget of 31 million pounds (958 billion VND) to protect parliamentarians and officials amid concerns about their safety.
