Meghan Markle could be on her way to the White House, with a slew of experts tipping her for a potential run at the presidency.

Following her and Prince Harry’s high-profile visit to Nigeria, buzz around Meghan’s possible political ambitions has intensified.

Erika Alexander, Meghan’s former co-star from Suits, recently stated that Meghan is “heading to the White House,” throwing her support behind the Duchess’s speculated pivot to politics.

Now, Meghan is being encouraged to take a leaf out of Donald Trump’s playbook as she contemplates vying for the role of POTUS.

As for Harry, experts suggest he should consider obtaining US citizenship to bolster his wife’s presidential aspirations.

Professor Christopher Phelps, a historian and expert in US politics, told MailOnline: “It would be a great story. The British prince who loved her so much he gave up his British citizenship to become an American.

“There would be no requirement for him to do it – but he would have to if she wanted to have any credibility.”

The couple’s recent trip to Nigeria, which mirrored a Royal tour, was deemed so successful that a political insider from California hinted that Meghan might aim to “queue jump” into a prominent position within US politics, emulating Trump’s leap from business to the presidency without prior political experience.

A source revealed: “She [Meghan] has her eyes on the prize.”

But another insider scrutinised the move, stating: “The buy-your-success thing is more suited as a Republican play. Meghan has political ambitions but like most celebrities or business people, they are not ready to put in the graft to get there.

“Maybe Oprah Winfrey could pull it off. But she’s put in the hard yards in other ways. Meghan hasn’t done anything.”

Professor Phelps, an academic at the University of Nottingham, suggested that Meghan could draw parallels with Ronald Regan, who transitioned from acting to politics, becoming Governor of California and later the 40th president of the United States.
