Why King Charles III and William did not revoke Harry and Meghan’s titles

King Charles III and Prince William fear facing a public backlash if they strip the Sussexes of their royal titles, according to a royal expert.

Author and royal expert Tom Quinn told the Mirror : “The king and the prince have discussed stripping Meghan and Harry of their titles on several occasions, but they are concerned this would backfire and make the situation worse.”

“They don’t want to give the royal traitors anything more to complain about. William and his father know that even without titles, Meghan and Harry will continue to travel the world as if they are royal representatives. Most people in the world will still welcome the Sussexes,” Tom Quinn added.

When they stepped down as senior working members of the royal family in 2020, Harry and Meghan retained their titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex but lost their HRH titles. Harry was also stripped of all his honorary military roles.

Still, the Sussexes tried to strengthen their royal connections earlier this year by launching a website called Sussex.com, which uses their royal titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and the coat of arms. The website features a picture of the couple and the tagline: “The Office of Prince Harry & Meghan, The Duke & Duchess of Sussex.” The site features news about their activities, such as their recent visit to Nigeria.
