The Duchess of Sussex appears to have found her “dream job” amid her Hollywood comeback
Meghan Markle is reportedly set to make a dramatic return to the hit legal drama ‘Suits’, which she starred in. As speculation about the Sussexes’ next move rages, the Daily Express US news outlet has revealed that the ‘Suits’ reboot appears to be “tailor-made” for Meghan.
According to Express, a senior executive at the production revealed that Meghan is being offered a huge deal for a “dream role” to return to television in the blockbuster.
The Duchess of Sussex has also been offered the chance to make her Hollywood directorial debut in “at least one episode” of the new legal drama.
According to sources, the film’s producers have been in talks with Meghan’s talent agency WME.
The show, titled “Suits: Los Angeles,” has been greenlit by NBCUniversal, and several episodes have been written by Meghan’s friend Aaron Korsh, who wrote the original show, which ran for nine seasons from 2011 to 2019.
On January 26, a senior source from the production said that contract negotiations between them and Meghan’s talent agency WME are continuing, adding: “This is shaping up to be one of the biggest TV deals of the year.”
“Meghan is in command. They want to expand a successful franchise. She has millions of fans around the world. They want her back and are willing to pay whatever it takes to get her.”
Sources say an official announcement could come as early as next month. Production on the new show will begin shortly after that, as studio bosses look for investors with significant interest in the new “Suits” project.
The original series became a surprise television phenomenon in 2023 when all nine seasons were available on streaming giant Netflix.
It topped the US TV download charts for 15 consecutive weeks, fueling persistent rumours that Meghan could reprise her role as “paralegal Rachel Zane”.
Meghan “dodged” the direct question in a recent interview with Vanity Fair magazine but said: “It was a great show to be on, a great cast and crew. We had a really good time. I was on it for seven seasons, which is quite a lot.”
The Daily Express US revealed that the new series “Suits: Los Angeles” will feature a female lead who bears an uncanny resemblance to Meghan’s previous character Rachel, and has been described by studio insiders as “tailor-made” and a “dream role” for the Duchess.
The new character is said to be named Erica, and works for a Los Angeles-based entertainment law firm. The character’s bio reads: “In her 30s, black, SoCal native, and Harvard Law alum. She’s running for Director of Entertainment. She’s great at closing deals with clients but struggles with everything else. Smarter than everyone else.”
Spokespeople for both NBCUniversal and Archewell — Meghan and Harry’s company — did not respond to a reporter’s emailed questions, but a studio executive publicly confirmed “Suits: Los Angeles” is in the works.
