Prince Harry and King Charles’s relationship deteriorated after the Duke’s meeting with his father was kept brief amid Covid-style health concerns, a source has claimed.

The claim comes amid a report the King is open to a truce with Harry after drawing comfort from spiritual leaders and exploring central religious beliefs, including the importance of forgiveness.

King Charles and Prince Harry’s relationship has been strained since the Duke and his wife, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, stepped down as senior working royals and moved to the US.

Since then, Harry has levelled a series of allegations against the Royal Family, including a claim Queen Camilla sacrificed him on “her personal PR altar” in a bid to rehabilitate her image with the public.

The Mail on Sunday reports that relations between the King and his youngest son soured further in the wake of the Duke’s flying visit to the UK when it emerged the monarch was being treated for cancer.

Harry jetted into London in February and sped to Clarence House where he reportedly met with King Charles for just half an hour before the monarch flew by helicopter to Sandringham without him, according to reports.

The Sun reports that the meeting was kept brief because of efforts to limit the King’s contact with people to minimise the risk of his catching anything during his cancer treatment.

Harry’s journey on a commercial airline from the US to the UK wasn’t therefore ideal, given the Duke would have been on board with scores of people.

King Charles was said to have been too busy to meet the Duke of Sussex during his last visit to the UK in May, when Harry attended an event to mark to 10th anniversary of Invictus Games.

The monarch is reported to have offered his son a room to stay at Buckingham Palace, but the Duke reportedly declined the offer and opted to stay at a hotel instead.
