Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly splurged on a new European home to help them maintain a presence on the duke’s home continent.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly bought a new home in Portugal after King Charles evicted them from their previous UK residence at Frogmore Cottage.
The Sussexes were handed an eviction notice for Frogmore days after the Duke released his tell-all memoir Spare last January and formally vacated the following June.
The couple live in a sprawling $20 million estate in Montecito with their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have ensured they retain a foothold in Europe by purchasing another property to add to their portfolio.
The ex-working royals reportedly bought a home in the same country as Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, who have a luxury residence in Portugal’s CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club.
The Princess and her British executive husband split their time between London and their home in the ritzy development of 300 seaside properties in Melides, south of Lisbon, Portugal.
Harry and Meghan are considered close to Eugenie and Brooksbank, with the Sussexes staying with them during a three-day “romantic getaway” to Portugal in 2023.
They also welcomed the princess and her husband, featured in their 2022 Netflix documentary ‘Harry & Meghan’ into their home in California.
Harry and Meghan may have acquired their new Portuguese house to possibly obtain visa-free access to the European Union’s Schengen area.
It is not suggested that this is the case; however, the so-called “golden visa” will allow Harry and Meghan to live in Portugal and travel visa-free throughout France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
The perk may have been seen as a golden ticket for the duchess, who abandoned her bid to become a British citizen when she stepped back from working royal duties in 2020.
The American ditched her citizenship bid after the renegade royals left the nation less than two years after their 2018 wedding.
Their new Portuguese property offers them a private escape in Europe and marks a big move in their ongoing quest for independence from the royal family.
