Meghan wanted to receive ‘free stuff’ from Victoria before being cut off

The Duchess of Sussex is said to have wanted Vic to provide free handbags and outfits but was banned by the palace.

According to Tom Bower’s newly released book The House of Beckham , Meghan reportedly asked the fashion designer to let her wear items from the Victoria Beckham fashion brand for free. However, the request was “vetoed by Buckingham Palace because it went against royal protocol,” writes Tom Bower.

That’s just one of the reasons why Meghan lost her friendship with David and Victoria Beckham.

The Suits star was so close to the Becks that he stayed at their Beverly Hills mansion during a trip to Los Angeles. Not only that, “a member of Vic’s staff” also gave Meghan beauty advice such as the best skin and hair care in London when the former actress was engaged to Prince Harry.

However, Meghan quickly lost faith in Vic, believing that Mrs Becks had leaked her story to the press. “It was only after The Sun reported that Vic had given Meghan makeup tips that the relationship between the two ambitious women broke down,” Bower said. According to the royal and celebrity biographer, Meghan is very sensitive to “media probing her unusual past”.

“Harry was forced to blame Becks,” Bower wrote, prompting the former footballer to ask his wife how The Sun had obtained the news. Vic is said to have denied passing the information to reporters and blamed a cosmetic surgeon.

According to Bower, tensions escalated as Meghan became increasingly jealous that the Becks had more money and enjoyed luxuries such as private jets and yachts. The conflict reached its peak during the Harry – Meghan wedding. The Duchess of Sussex was accused of ignoring the Becks.

The couple attended the wedding at St. George’s Chapel, but Bower claimed that Victoria felt “insulted” when she was not invited to the dinner party attended by other celebrities such as George Clooney. In photos taken at the chapel, Mrs. Becks also appeared “unhappy” and kept a straight face.

Meghan then tried to show her support for Victoria by wearing a dress by the 50-year-old designer at Christmas in 2018 and another one at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in early 2019.

However, Harry and Meghan ‘s relationship with the Becks family appears to remain strained. The couple were not invited to the lavish wedding of the Becks’ son, Brooklyn Beckham, to Nicola Peltz in Palm Beach in 2022.
