Meghan Markle has often expressed the challenges she faced when trying to integrate into the royal family. In stark contrast, Mike Tindall, who is married to Zara Phillips Tindall (the daughter of Princess Anne), has shared that his experience was quite the opposite.

Tindall found the transition to royal life relatively easy, attributing his smooth integration to a simple principle: just being nice. This is particularly ironic, given that Markle’s first question to the friend who set her up with Prince Harry was about his niceness.

In their engagement interview, she recalled asking, “Is he nice?” This raises interesting questions about Markle’s behavior within the royal family. If it was so effortless for Tindall, why did Markle struggle so much?

While Prince Harry describes her as wonderful and amazing, many who have worked with her and even some royals hold a different view. The moniker “Duchess Difficult” seems to fit Markle quite well, and we’re going to delve into this topic today. It’s intriguing to see how Markle’s narrative continues to unravel.

Yes, entering the royal family involves a lot of protocols and things to remember, but as Tindall suggests, being nice can significantly ease the process. Life is often smoother when we approach situations with kindness and understanding.

Tindall, who has played a rough-and-tumble rugby career, has managed to fit into the royal family and has become an uncle-like figure to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, since their actual uncle is not involved in their lives.

Royals may represent the elite of society, but marrying into the family isn’t as daunting when you genuinely make an effort to be kind. In contrast, Markle has claimed her experience was very difficult, expressing frustration that no one in the royal family seemed to understand her, particularly her penchant for hugging.

Markle describes herself as a “stage four hugger,” which reportedly made some Brits uncomfortable. It appears she may not have considered how cultural differences affect interactions, leading to awkward situations, especially with the royals.

In her Netflix documentary, Markle recalled meeting William and Kate for the first time. She mentioned feeling underdressed, highlighting a supposed class difference, and noted how she had always been a hugger. However, her insistence on hugging may have seemed intrusive to the royal family, as they might have seen it as an attempt at manipulation to create intimacy where none existed.

Moreover, Markle’s behavior toward Prince William at their first meeting illustrates the cultural clash between her and the royals. Harry noted that William recoiled at Markle’s embrace, which he described as a “classic collision of cultures.”

Markle’s eagerness to hug everyone stood in stark contrast to William’s reserved nature. Most Brits typically maintain a certain level of formality in social interactions, and Markle’s over-familiarity likely contributed to her difficulties in integrating.

As their relationship unfolded, the dynamics remained tense. For example, Markle once asked to borrow Kate’s lip gloss, an act that many, including Kate, found awkward.

This isn’t a typical request, especially from someone who was more of an acquaintance than a close friend at that time. Such behavior might have contributed to the perception that Markle was imposing her American ways without considering the British customs.

Furthermore, Meghan’s directness in conversations, particularly about personal topics, may have raised eyebrows among the royals. During a conversation between Kate and Meghan, the latter mentioned Kate’s hormones in a context that was too familiar for their relationship.

This further underscores how Markle’s communication style did not align with the more reserved nature of royal family interactions, leading to misunderstandings.

Additionally, the dynamic among the couples showed tension, especially with Harry’s admission that he believed Markle’s behavior was difficult. He described her as rude and abrasive, indicating a strained relationship with the staff and royals.

While Markle may present herself as charming, those who have worked closely with her see a different side.

Ultimately, the narrative around Meghan Markle remains complex. Many who have interacted with her view her through a lens of difficulty and abrasive behavior, contrasting sharply with her self-portrayal.

The ongoing allegations of bullying and difficulties in her interactions with the royal family support the notion that the integration into royal life is contingent not just on protocols, but on the fundamental ability to be kind and considerate of others. In my humble opinion, Meghan Markle struggles with this, leading to her challenges within the royal family.
