Newsweek ‘s survey found the Sussexes’ popularity index rose sharply after Buckingham Palace confirmed Harry’s return to Britain for his father’s coronation.
Compared to the publication of the memoir Spare , the Duke of Sussex’s popularity index is now at 8 points, up 18 places. Meghan Markle’s popularity in the US has also gradually improved, rising 11 places to -6 points, hoping to “recover” in the future.

The survey of 1,500 people showed that Harry and his wife are more popular and supported by Americans than the public at home. 39% of the survey respondents supported Harry, while the number of people supporting Meghan Markle – a former American actress who married into the royal family – was up to 33%.
In February, after the publication of his memoir Spare, Harry’s popularity index dropped 45 places to -7 points. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle hit a record negative mark of -13 points. Like the British public, Americans were not pleased with the Sussexes’ attacks on the royal family.
The survey assessing the popularity of Harry and Meghan Markle was released after Harry confirmed his attendance at the coronation ceremony on May 6. The Duchess did not follow her husband back to England, but stayed at her residence in the US with her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Charles III’s coronation coincided with Archie’s birthday.
According to Mirror, the Duke of Sussex will only attend his father’s coronation ceremony on May 6 at Westminster Abbey and will not attend any other events. He wants to return to the US immediately to attend his son’s birthday after fulfilling his duties as a son.
“Archie’s fourth birthday influenced the Sussexes’ decision. This is Harry’s shortest trip to the UK,” British royal expert Omid Scobie told the Mirror.
