King Charles is believed to be “desperate” to see his grandchildren, but one royal expert thinks Meghan Markle isn’t willing to bring them to the UK.
Meghan and her husband Prince Harry have a strained relationship with the Royal Family. Their two children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – have spent very little time in the UK. The King has reportedly invited Meghan and Harry to spend the summer at Balmoral, but royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths doesn’t think Meghan will accept the invite. She said: “Even if Harry comes, I can’t imagine a world in which Meghan comes over with the kids, it’s really sad.”
Earlier on Thursday, Prince William met with a schoolboy who wrote a letter inviting him to an event at his school in Birmingham.
The Prince of Wales, who attended the event without his wife as she undergoes cancer treatment, was pictured shaking hands with Freddie Hadley at St Michael’s School in Rowley Regis. Freddie, 12, invited William and Kate to the school in October last year for an event shining a light on male mental health. The visit is also Prince William’s second since news broke of Kate’s cancer diagnosis last month. The 41-year-old also visited a surplus food project in Surrey last week.
Prince Harry was once a “media darling” who could not “put a foot wrong” before the royal changed in key ways into the man he is today – leaving a former aide “surprised and saddened”.
Former Royal press secretary Ailsa Anderson, who once served as Queen Elizabeth II’s press officer, claimes the Duke of Sussex has “changed” since she last worked with him. Sharing her surprise at Harry stepping back from Royal duties in an interview with Times Radio, Ms Anderson reminisced on when he used to be a “media darling”.
She said: “The Harry that I knew and I left and obviously that was before he got married so 2013, but he was the media’s darling. I remember at the start he could not put a foot wrong, he was just this war hero, he’d served, he was committed, he had the Invictus Games. “He really couldn’t put a step wrong.”
Prince Harry is “extremely disappointed” and desperate to spend more time in the UK with his young family – but a major question mark hangs over his feelings about bringing them to Britain.
The frustrated Duke of Sussex was set to visit his former homeland in May to mark a decade of the Invictus Games, an international sporting event he founded for wounded, injured, or sick armed services personnel and veterans. But he now left mulling over cancelling the planned return, leaving royal fans devastated.
