Prince Harry will not reunite with King Charles during his London visit, with one royal expert suggesting he made “certain demands” which couldn’t be met.

The Duke of Sussex returned to the UK on Tuesday to take part in events relating to the Invictus Games. While there had been rumours Harry would reunite with his father, a spokesperson has confirmed that won’t be happening.

Royal expert Charlotte Griffiths has suggested Charles’ decision not to meet with his son came following “difficult” negotiations. She claimed Harry made “certain demands” about who could be in the room for their meeting and who couldn’t.

Speaking to GB News, Charlotte also suggested “other forces” might have been driving Charles’ position on meeting with Harry. She elaborated: “William may have had a thought about how this meeting should be conducted or whether it should be conducted at all.

“We know that Charles likes to meet Harry with Camilla in the room which isn’t always a popular decision. Harry was without his wife as well, so this was fraught with difficulty.”

A spokesperson for Harry confirmed the news that he will not be meeting with the King. In a statement, they said: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.” Instead, Harry will attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral tonight to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

The Duke of Sussex co-founded the sporting event in 2014 to help injured servicemen and women. Following his trip to the UK, he will be heading to Nigeria with Meghan Markle to take part in talks relating to the games.

Harry has a fraught relationship with his father, but returned to the UK back in February to meet with the King after it was announced he had been diagnosed with cancer. The pair had a 30-minute meeting at Clarence House before Harry headed back to America.
