During Harry’s return to the UK this time, the Queen is keen to find a way to reconcile all recent conflicts and plans to call her nephew for a private talk.
The Duke of Sussex is in the UK for the unveiling of a statue of his late mother, Princess Diana. The statue will be placed in the Sunken Garden of Kensington Palace and will be officially unveiled tomorrow (1 July).
On his previous visit to Britain, for the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip in April, Harry was said to have received a frosty reception from some members of the royal family, a reaction that came after Harry had made a series of public criticisms of palace life and his relatives.
Now, royal author and Royal Musing website operator Marlene Koening has said the Queen will likely approach Harry as “a loving grandmother” to talk to her grandson during his return.
“Maybe the Queen will summon her grandson and sit down and talk,” Koening said. “That would be the first step toward reconciliation. Right now the divide between them is as deep as the Grand Canyon. Everyone is on different sides and someone needs to take the initiative to reach out, and that’s important.”
Earlier, on the afternoon of June 25, after the plane carrying Harry landed at Heathrow Airport, London, the Queen drove herself from Windsor Castle to Frogmore Cottage, where Harry was staying. However, it is unclear whether the Queen met her grandson because Harry had to quarantine for at least 5 days according to epidemic prevention regulations.
The Queen is famous for being a tolerant grandmother to Harry. Although he caused many scandals for the royal family in his youth such as partying and partying, the Queen still protected him and gave him the opportunity to start over.
