The Welsh couple faced the awkward situation as they left the Open Doors charity in Birkehead on January 12. In a video shared on Twitter by ITV reporter Lizzie Robinson , William and Kate were saying goodbye to officials when a voice behind the camera said: “Your Royal Highness, have you had a chance to read your brother’s book?”
Despite clearly being close enough to hear the question, the Prince and Princess of Wales did not react. They smiled and walked out, leaving the reporters “bewildered”.
The royal couple’s visit to Open Door, an organization that supports young people, was the second stop on the itinerary on January 12. This is also William and Kate’s first official engagement of the new year 2023. They started their work with a trip to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, where they opened a new medical center and thanked the staff for their dedication.
Similar to the situation at Open Door, when William and Kate first stepped out of the car, the media also asked about Harry’s memoir. But neither answered the question about their reaction to the Duke of Sussex’s accusations. Those present said it was unclear whether they deliberately ignored the question or did not hear it because of the loud wind outside the hospital.
In the book, Harry calls William his “frenemy” and criticizes Kate for not telling the truth about her conflict with Meghan. In addition, the 38-year-old duke also talks about growing up in the royal family, his military service, his relationship with his family and the pain of losing his mother.
Sharing with People , Harry said that the autobiography is part of his journey to heal his mental health. Concluding the memoir, Harry said: “I want people to read my memoir and draw their own conclusions. I don’t want to impose my thoughts on anyone, including my family. This book and the truths within it are, in many ways, a continuation of my own journey to heal my mental health. It is a raw account of my life – the good, the bad and everything in between.”
“I hope to turn my pain into a purpose, so that sharing my experience becomes a positive thing in other people’s lives. If that happens, there is nothing more rewarding,” added the British prince, who lives with his wife and children in Montecito.
