Harry and Meghan Buy a Vacation Home in Europe

After leaving Frogmore Cottage, Harry and Meghan are reported to have purchased a vacation home in Europe.

According to Page Six, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have bought a property in Portugal, where Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, also own a vacation estate in the northern Lisbon area.

Buying a new home may also mean that Meghan has applied for a Golden Visa, which would allow the former American actress to travel freely across 26 countries in the Schengen Area of Europe.

The purchase of this home comes over a year after King Charles III evicted Harry and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, England. The Sun reported that the 75-year-old monarch made the decision to expel his youngest son’s family right after Harry released his shocking memoir Spare, which heavily criticized the royal family. “This eviction certainly ended Harry and Meghan’s time in the UK,” a source said at the time.

In June 2023, the Sussexes moved their remaining belongings out of Frogmore Cottage and handed over the keys to the royal family. Prince Andrew was said to be the one taking over the estate, though he has reportedly refused to move in.

Currently, Harry and Meghan reside full-time in a Montecito mansion with their two children—Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. However, the couple seems to have “fallen in love” with Portugal after visiting the country last summer. They spent three relaxing nights on the Iberian Peninsula and enjoyed a few days at the Costa Terra Golf and Ocean Club in Melides.

While Harry frequently vacations in Europe, he has not visited his family in the UK due to unresolved tensions since stepping down from royal duties in early 2020. The 40-year-old prince and his brother, Prince William, avoided each other when they both attended their uncle’s funeral in Norfolk in August.
