A recent YouGov poll has revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, are the most beloved members of the British royal family, while Prince Andrew and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, are viewed less favorably by the public.
The survey, published today, indicates that 75% of respondents have a positive opinion of William and Kate. Princess Anne is also highly regarded, with 71% of people holding a favorable view of her.
However, Prince Harry and Meghan are not as well-liked, with 60% of respondents expressing unfavorable views towards Harry and 63% towards Meghan. Prince Andrew remains the least popular royal, with 87% of Britons holding a negative opinion of him and only 5% viewing him positively.
The survey further shows that William is the most favored royal, with 75% of respondents viewing him positively, slightly ahead of Kate, who has a 74% favorability rating. Notably, 45% of respondents have a ‘very positive’ view of Kate, while 40% share this sentiment about William and Princess Anne.
Only 30% of Britons have a favorable opinion of Harry, and even fewer, 23%, view Meghan positively. King Charles III, nearing two years on the throne, is favored by around 63% of Britons, though 29% hold a negative view. Among young adults aged 18 to 24, only 23% have a positive opinion of the King, while 53% view him negatively.
Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, receive positive views from 38% to 52% of Britons. However, a significant portion, 37% to 41%, are indifferent or undecided about them. Similarly, Prince Edward has a favorability rating of 53%, but 28% remain unsure about him.
Queen Camilla is viewed positively by about 49% of the public, while 38% see her negatively. Despite the mixed opinions on individual family members, the British public generally supports the monarchy, with 63% having a positive view of the royal family overall and 59% favoring the institution itself. This is nearly double the proportion of those who view the family negatively (30%) and are skeptical of the monarchy (32%).
