Despite once claiming not to care about the “glamour” of the royal family, Meghan Markle is said to have changed her mind and wants her children to keep their royal titles.
After a conversation with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, the Duchess of Sussex (43 years old) shared that she no longer had any attachment to the “glamour” of royal life. However, according to royal expert Neil Sean, Meghan and Harry have had a change of heart. They realize the importance of royal titles, not only for themselves but also for the future of their two children: Archie (5 years old) and Lilibet (3 years old).
Sean said: “Harry and Meghan really want to keep those royal titles. After much consideration, Meghan decided that the titles would be a good thing, not only for her but also for her two children.” Meghan’s change of heart is said to have stemmed from her close relationship with Princess Eugenie and Beatrice – Harry’s two cousins. “Meghan has realised how useful titles are, especially when you want to build relationships in the upper class. That’s why they want to keep the titles,” Sean added.
However, Archie and Lilibet’s royal titles do not mean that they will have a royal life. The two are currently having a normal childhood in California (USA), far from their paternal family in England. Although King Charles is said to be trying to build a relationship with his grandchildren, the geographical distance is a big barrier. Meghan is said to not want to bring the children back to England in the near future.
The clearest evidence is Harry’s personal visit to his homeland last week. Despite reconciling with his father, Harry did not meet any family members. Meanwhile, Meghan remains at her Montecito mansion with her two children. Harry and Meghan’s decision to keep the royal titles for Archie and Lilibet is a controversial topic. Will this title really benefit the children’s future or is it just a “burden” of having to live under public scrutiny?
