Will Kate Middleton Don Her Tiara at This Next Major Royal Event?

There’s a good chance Kate Middleton will be dusting off her tiara come December.

On Friday, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles and Queen Camilla will be hosting His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani of Qatar on December 3 and December 4 in the U.K. And while details about the couple’s visit are unknown, a banquet at Buckingham Palace is almost guaranteed, which means the royal women will most definitely be pulling out their tiaras.

British royals rarely wear tiaras and only do so on special occasions, such as weddings, coronations, and state banquets.

It’s unclear if the Prince and Princess of Wales be attending as Kate continues to recover from her cancer battle, but in years past, both have helped out the king and queen with official welcoming duties. However, the princess did not partake in welcoming when Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan who were guests at the palace in June while she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

Last month, Middleton announced that she finished chemo in a moving video posted to social media, and since then, she’s been slowly stepping back into the spotlight. For her first post-chemo outing, the princess met with 16-year-old cancer patient and aspiring photographer, Liz Hatton, at Windsor Castle, and just this week, she made a surprise appearance alongside William in Southport to check in on emergency responders, who treated those injured in a mass stabbing at a Taylor Swift-themed dance party earlier this summer.
